Holding Onto Stuttering
Fluency Modification › Holding Onto Stuttering
Stay in the stuttering moment without rushing, then ease out gently when ready.
Practical Description
Holding onto stuttering teaches you to stay calm during a block instead of panicking and pushing through. You consciously hold the stuttered sound or position, maintaining awareness and relaxation, then release it gently. This reduces the struggle behavior that often makes stuttering worse.
